National electronic Library for Medicines (formerly known as
DrugInfoZone). The primary and community section of this site includes
many examples of support materials for community health services,
and also medicines use in social care. This is the main access point
for resources such as examples of policies, procedures, current
information etc. You may need to register with the site on your
first visit. The site has a wealth of links and a good search engine.
Immunisation
The most comprehensive, up-to-date and accurate of information on
vaccines, disease and immunisation in the UK
Department
of Health - Green Book The Green Book is a publicly available
document on immunisation against infectious disease, which charts
the history of immunisation and immunisation advice over the years
since this kind of preventative treatment was first used in 1786.
This edition was published in 1996, the bicentennial year of Edward
Jenners world-changing discovery.
The
Health Protection Agency is an independent body that protects
the health and well-being of everyone in England and Wales

Travel and Health is a WHO publication that offers guidance
on the full range of health risks likely to be encountered at specific
destinations and associated with different types of travel
from business, humanitarian and leisure travel to backpacking and
adventure tours. The guidance is intended to help the medical profession
to be fully aware of potential risks and to provide appropriate
advice, whether this concerns recommended vaccinations, protection
against insects and other disease vectors, or safety in different
environmental settings

Healthcare Commission exists to promote improvement in the quality
of healthcare in England and Wales. In England only this includes
regulation of the independent healthcare sector

Commission for Social Care and Inspection is the new independent
inspectorate for all social care services in England
In
Wales regulation is the responsibility of the Care
Standards Inspectorate for Wales (CSIW).
In
Scotland the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001 regulation is
the responsibility of the
Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care (SCRC) known
as the Care Commission.
